Teaching Christians to be victorious over their flesh. Scripture clearly states that the believer has three enemies – the world, the flesh, and the devil. By using the word “flesh,” the Bible is not referring to the substance that wraps our bones. Rather, the flesh is described as being in opposition to the Spirit of God and has many ways of expressing itself. Believers need to learn how the flesh operates and how to deal with it.
“But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts.” (Romans 13:15)
Equipping believers to live more productive lives by teaching them the reality of Christ as life. By dying on the cross, the Lord Jesus Christ made salvation available for the human race and gave them the right to become birthed into the family of God. However, there is more to life than being birthed. A newborn must develop and grow physically, mentally, and emotionally in order to become a productive member of society. An individual who has been born-again by the Spirit of the living God also needs to go beyond the birth experience. That person must also develop and grow spiritually and mature in order to be able to live the kind of life God has provided for each member of His family.
“When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.” (Colossians 3:4)
Assisting believers in their escape from the snare of the devil. There are many believers that have been caught in the snare of the devil who are unaware that such snares even exist. They are aware from Scripture that demons exist, but are untaught, uninformed, or misinformed as to the schemes the enemy employs in his ensnaring tactics. In such a state the individual becomes subjected to unseen spiritual forces whose purpose is to steal, kill, and destroy; all too often our common enemy gets away with it – completely unseen. Spiritual warfare is not an option for the one seeking to be all that the Lord Jesus Christ wants him to be. It is not only essential, but commanded.
“And he must have a good reputation with those outside the church, so that he may not fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.” (1 Timothy 3:7)

The enemies of our souls are not to be perceived as though they are non-existent entities. Neither are they to be envisioned as impregnable, unbeatable forces that we dare not stand against lest their retaliation overwhelm and consume us. Through the Lord Jesus Christ, God has provided what all believers need in order to become more than conquerors and to put the enemy to flight in our own lives. We are also commanded to be on the alert for other believers who have fallen captive to the enemies’ snares.
